The 3rd album from Carpenters was self-titled, CARPENTERS, and gave birth to the now-familiar stylized logo of the duo’s name. Released on May 14, 1971, it was their most successful studio album, reaching number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and number 12 in the UK, as well as being certified 4× Platinum by the RIAA. The album contained the hit songs "For All We Know", "Rainy Days and Mondays" and "Superstar".

As originally released, the cover was a plain tan color with a brown logo, designed in a flap/insert fashion so that if folded properly, the inside photograph would stand up like a picture in a frame.

This is a reissues with the design simplified to a standard album cover, moving the logo to the top and putting the inside picture underneath it on the revised front cover.
